Carpenters and joiners complete a four year apprenticeship. I left college in Oxford with City & Guilds qualifications in Advanced Carpentry, Site Management and a professional qualification with The Chartered Institute of Builders.
I am lucky that I have a passion for the job I do. I am not saying every day is a sunny one but there really is nothing to compare to the pride and contentment of the smile on a client's face of a good job or project completed.

"Paul worked quickly, efficiently, and with great skill at my property. I had rough ideas of what I wanted done, and he came up with better solutions in all cases, costing them very fairly and completing them very quickly. The finish was excellent, and he left the site clear each evening. Paul designed and built a heavy duty set of deep shelves for art materials in a spare room; decorative cladding to cover a boiler; installation of bespoke shelving in a pantry; and designing and building a set of shelving and cupboard to accommodate a record collection, while fitting in with the 1930s decor around it.
He also hung 5 oak doors in the house, and advised on sourcing the locks/mortices/etc. All required significant adjustment by him to accommodate the quirks of the house.

"Paul removed our awful old solid staircase and bannister with gorgeous spindles and oak bannister. Totally transformed the room! Also fitted a bookcase under the stairs and lovely latched cottage type pine doors on 3 cupboards. The staircase was a tricky job - Paul dealt with all the weird angles and bumps without moaning or doing that sharp intake of breath that some tradesmen do when they encounter something unexpected and use as an excuse to charge you more.
Charge was as quoted, despite rising costs of materials post Covid and Brexit.
All finished to a very high quality…so happy with the results.

Wherever possible I will provide a quotation as opposed to an estimate for all work.
Estimate; A builder could quote say £45,000 for an extension, on completion of the contract they could charge £55,000, well it was only an estimate.
Quotation; A written quotation will detail all the proposed work and its' cost. The amount I quote is the amount you will be invoiced. If you require variations to the quotation or extra work is needed it will be completed to an agreed cost. Please see my Terms & Conditions
For clarity my daywork rate is £50.00 and hour and materials are cost + 15%
